Stratford upon Avon Golf Club has a course designed by J H Taylor, five times winner of the Open, and F G Hawtree.  Sam Ryder opened the course in 1928 with Abe Mitchell (the figure on the top of the Ryder Cup) and three other Open champions playing a demonstration match.

The Stratford upon Avon Golf Club current captain welcomes visitors -  As Captain of one of the oldest and most revered golf clubs in Warwickshire, I warmly welcome both visitors and societies to enjoy our very special course and club in this our 125th year.

Stratford on Avon golf Club was founded in 1894 and moved to its present location, off Tiddington Road, in 1925. Only a few years later our Captain was the inspirational Samuel Ryder, inaugurator of the famous Ryder Cup matches. Held every two years between the top professional golfers of America and of the UK and Europe, this has now become one of the most iconic team prizes in sport.

We have a challenging yet very picturesque par 72 course, respected and admired by both low and high handicap golfers alike.  The fairways are lined by a variety of mature ornamental trees and our sandy, easy draining subsoil enables play virtually all year round.

Stratford Park Golf Course is only a 5 minute drive from Daisy Lodge self-catering accommodation.  Of their course they say “The 18 hole par 72 championship golf course, at 6575 yards with its full fairway irrigation system and USGA specification greens, is open all the year round.  It has been designed to test all standards of golfers with. Our par 3 17th signature hole deserves a special mention, 203 yards over water to an island green.  Particular care has been taken to maintain the natural beauty of the Welcombe Hills. The planting of more than 50,000 trees and the use of lakes have helped to create areas that are ecologically friendly. Visitors are very welcome at the Stratford Park Golf Club and can look forward to an excellent round of golf, followed by a warm, friendly atmosphere and some good food in the Clubhouse.”
